This session will include a discussion of the implications of properly forecasting the growth of assets and important considerations when estimating the liability, such as determining the optimal replacement rate, forecasting the retirement period and understanding what it truly means to fail (or succeed) during retirement.

Session Title: Why and How to Have the Medicare Conversation with Your Clients

Session Description: The Medicare-eligible population is expanding exponentially as baby boomers age into the program at a rate of over 10,000 every day. More than 64 million Americans are already enrolled in Medicare and many of them are your current clients.  Who better for them to turn to than you, their financial advisor, for their Medicare questions?  We can help prepare you for the Medicare conversation you could (and should!) be having with clients in the retirement planning process, but  you don’t have to be the expert.  Allow us to be your trusted partner for Medicare-related matters to protect your clients’ hard-earned assets, deepen their loyalty and attract new clients.

Session Title: CFP Professionals use of time horizon with immunization
Session Description: It is widely acknowledged that investments held for particular goals need to take time-horizon into account.  It is also generally acknowledged that many clients are quite risk averse.  Investment theory indicates that holding period immunization is often a “free-lunch” for risk averse investors.  Do planners make use of immunization?  Do target date funds make use of immunization?  Should they?  If they should, how can this be done?  Our study will provide answers to these important questions.
